Agriculture & Rural Development

Consia has in-house experience - technical as well as at the managerial and institutional level – from the formulation and implementation of agriculture and rural development projects and programmes in countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. This includes experience from donor supported sector wide programmes (SWAP) with a strong element of organisational strengthening and institutional development comprising both public sector institutions and private sector organisations.

Through technological know-how and technical assistance transfers, Consia recognises the need to design, plan and implement environmental programmes through participatory governance, legislation screening, legal support, institutional building and development. Training, awareness raising, and analysis of alternative resources and income generation are key elements to any programme, as are stakeholder-building and cross-sector cooperation, with. for example, agriculture, forestry, urban development and tourism.

Consia has the competencies to capacity-build the professional and institutional abilities required within the environment sector of a country or region, as well as to construct demonstration or pilot programmes designed to combat the environmental problems faced in the development of a country.

What we offer

1

Institutional Development

Institutional building is generally heralded as the missing link in development, as a primary objective of aid, and as a necessary condition for sustainable development. Such strengthening is especially pressing at the policy level where complex economic and political trends test the ability of institutions to deliver effective policies. Further, institutional strengthening is directed at the introduction of change programmes based on institutional reforms and renewal.
